It is most likely the same sett that was mentioned in the documents from Wilson's in Bannockburn of 1793. The details are mentioned in a manuscript that was written around 1800 and is moment located in the Royal Museum of Scotland. This is the oldest, though not similar to the tartan Old Gala Water. Wilsons of Bannockburn a weaving company was established in 1770 near Stirling. They also have the Pattern books are located in the National Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh. The original copies are available of Pattern book and the letters are can be found in the Scottish Tartans Society archive.
