While Hay is now considered an authentically Scottish name, its roots originate in northern France, and the families from the Hay family were settled in England soon following the Norman Conquest. The first Hays was discovered in Scotland in the mid-point in the 12th century. The Hay Ancient Tartan is typically composed of Acrylic Wool material. It is light red and light green shades with black, yellow, and white lines. This can lighten the tartan and provide it with an even balance.
