The Brian Boru Jacket was named after the Irish High King that put an end to Norse rule in Ireland and it is the Irish equivalent of the Scottish Prince Charlie Jacket. Sometimes referred to as a 'coatee' it is cut slightly higher than other jacket types finishing in line with the waist in order to ensure it does not hide any of the full length of the kilt or the sporran.
