Allison is the name that Allison was first utilized by two brothers from Alexander McAlister of Loupe, who emigrated with a few of their supporters to the Avondale parish. Avondale within Lanarkshire. The name Allison can be traced back for a long time with various spellings. The first spelling is that of Patrick Allisonne del Contes de Berwyk, in 1298. The Allison tartan was first seen in the latter part of the nineteenth century, and was officially recorded in 1882. The setting that was used by Lochcarron is one of two official settings. Both settings were officially registered in 1882, and as such each can be considered to be authentic.
