Buchan is a name that comes from Aberdeen shire. Buchan originates from Aberdeen-shire. Ricard's Buchan was first mentioned in documents dating back to 1207. The earldom at the time was part that of the Comyns Family. The name usually recalls the cold weathered corner of North East generations who had been battling the most difficult elements. Today, newly discovered oil has brought the name to the forefront of the news. The oldest Buchan's are known to be around 1200 or earlier. General Major Thomas Buchan, who was born in Auch Macoy in 1641, commanded the troops that fought King James II during rebellions of 1689, while his older brother, Colonel John Buchan of Arenburg fought in the opposing side. Buchan's Ancient Tartan is suitable for any occasion and event. This tartan is generally composed of Acrylic Wool material.
